Our History

It began with a single loaf of bread

Unfolding a legendary chapter in 1902 — with little economic backing but a strong determination and a truthful desire to earn a living by catering quality bakery products — Charles Perera baked his first loaf of bread.

  1. 1902

    Charles Perera bakes his first loaf of bread, serving his neighbourhood through barriers and challenges — Perera & Sons is born.

  2. 1930s

    The business passes to his son, Kodagoda Albert Perera. With superior vision and exemplary effort, P&S begins selling iced cakes, birthday cakes and wedding structures — and installs the first electric oven in Sri Lanka.

  3. 1960s

    The third generation — Sarath, Rukmini, Sunitha, Srima and Shanthani Perera — takes the helm, contributing tremendously to the reach and glory of the organization.

  4. 1993

    Ever expanding while maintaining the impeccable essence of its products, P&S signs its first General Manager from outside the family.

  5. 1997

    Managing Director Mr. Gihan Perera takes office. Monumental measures and strategies follow, claiming P&S's glorious position as market leader through immense dedication and utmost commitment.
